Jennifer Westfeldt
Jennifer Westfeldt (born February 2, 1970 in Guilford , Connecticut ) is an American actress , screenwriter and film producer .
Life and accomplishments
Westfeldt has Swedish ancestors. She graduated from Yale University , appeared in a few plays in New York City, and moved to Los Angeles . She played her first television role in 1998 in the first season of the series A Trio to Bite .
Westfeldt wrote the play Lipschtick together with Heather Juergensen , in which both women appeared in the leading roles of a lesbian couple. The play was filmed as the comedy Kissing Jessica (2001), in which Juergensen and Westfeldt took on the same roles as in the play; they also wrote the script and co-produced the film. They received a special award from the Los Angeles IFP / West Film Festival in 2001 and were nominated for the Independent Spirit Award in 2003 for the script . Westfeldt also won the Golden Satellite Award for her portrayal in 2003 .
The role in the musical Wonderful Town earned Westfeldt the Theater World Award and a Tony Award nomination in 2004 . In the mystery thriller Keep Your Distance (2005) she took on one of the leading roles alongside Gil Bellows . She also played a leading role in the comedy Ira and Abby (2006), which she wrote and co-produced. This role earned her the 2006 Audience Award at the Boston Jewish Film Festival and the 2007 Film Discovery Jury Award from the US Comedy Arts Festival .
Westfeldt lives in Los Angeles and was in a relationship with actor Jon Hamm until September 2015. Both founded the production company Points West Pictures in 2009 .
