Jenovan Krishnan (born September 22, 1991 in Nuremberg , Bavaria ) is a German political science student and politician. From 2015 to 2017 he was federal chairman of the Ring of Christian Democratic Students (RCDS) and a member of the federal board of the CDU .

Life

His parents are Tamils ​​of Catholic faith from Sri Lanka who fled the Sri Lankan civil war . They emigrated to Germany to start a new life. Krishnan grew up in Regensburg . He made his Abitur in Kempten (Allgäu) . He then began studying political science at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main . After starting his studies in October 2012, he joined the CDU and the RCDS. He won a seat in the student parliament .

From January 2013 to January 2015 he was the opposition leader of the RCDS in the student parliament of the Goethe University. From April 2014 to April 2015 he then headed the RCDS Frankfurt as group chairman. Jenovan Krishnan was elected as the new federal chairman on October 10, 2015 at the 70th Federal Delegate Assembly of the RCDS. In his function he is automatically a member of the federal executive board of the CDU in Germany. He is also a member of the Federal Committee for Education, Research and Innovation.

In his speech on the occasion of his election, Krishnan spoke out in favor of the RCDS using its abilities to help refugees in Germany to integrate here and to make connections. That is why he wants to work to ensure that refugees have better access to studies - especially to MINT subjects . He called on the universities to make a clear commitment to the principle of performance in research and teaching and to "no longer introduce nonsensical quotas, no leveling of students and no more civil clauses".

In October 2015 he was elected to the federal executive committee of the CDU. In 2016 he was re-elected as RCDS federal chairman.

In 2016 he criticized the federal government's refugee policy. In 2017 he criticized left student groups for wasting university money on uniformed purposes such as demonstrations, protest actions and left-wing projects.
