Jürgen Hardt (born May 30, 1963 in Hofheim am Taunus ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and economist. He is the foreign policy spokesman for the CDU / CSU parliamentary group and is a member of the parliamentary group's executive committee. Hardt has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2009 .

Life and work

After graduating from high school in 1982 at the Taunusgymnasium in Königstein im Taunus , Hardt trained as a naval officer with the German Armed Forces and is now a lieutenant in the reserve. After a total of four years in the navy, he completed a degree in economics in Heidelberg and Cologne, which he completed in 1993 with a degree in economics.

From 1992 to 1998 Hardt worked in the CDU federal office as head of the social policy department, later as office manager for Secretary General Peter Hintze and then until 2001 as a consultant for European policy for the CDU / CSU parliamentary group . The eight years before his election to the German Bundestag, he was a senior executive at the Wuppertal family company Vorwerk , most recently as head of corporate communications.

Hardt is Protestant , married and has one daughter.

Political party

Hardt joined the CDU in 1981. From 1987 to 1989 he was the federal chairman of the Ring of Christian Democratic Students . From 2004 to 2009 he was a member of the council of the city of Wuppertal , from 2003 to 2014 he was district chairman of the CDU Wuppertal. Hardt has been deputy chairman of the CDU district of Bergisches Land since 2005 .

Hardt has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2009 . Here he is a full member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the German Bundestag and a deputy member of the Committee on Affairs of the European Union , the Joint Committee and the Defense Committee . In the 17th electoral term he was a member of the committee of inquiry to investigate the events surrounding the air attack near Kunduz .

Hardt has entered the Bundestag as a directly elected member of the Bundestag constituency Solingen - Remscheid - Wuppertal II . In the 2013 Bundestag election he received 44.3% of the first votes . In 2011 David Bendels interned with him .

Transatlantic Cooperation Coordinator

From April 2014 to April 2018 Jürgen Hardt was the coordinator for transatlantic cooperation in the Federal Foreign Office .

Memberships

Hardt is a member of the Europa-Union parliamentary group of the German Bundestag , the Parliamentary Assembly of NATO and the Parliamentary Assembly of the OSCE . He is also a member of the executive committee of the European People's Party .
