politics

Erik Bertram joined the CDU , the Junge Union and the RCDS in 2008 . From 2009 to 2010 he was chairman of the RCDS Heidelberg, from 2011 to 2012 state chairman of the RCDS Baden-Württemberg and in this function also a member of the state board of the CDU Baden-Württemberg. From October 2012 to October 2013 Bertram was federal chairman of the RCDS and a member of the federal board of the CDU. Since 2009 he has been a member of the district executive committee of the CDU Heidelberg and in 2012 he was elected district chairman of the CDU Heidelberg-Altstadt / Schlierbach. In 2012 he was appointed to the state committee “Science, Research and Art” of the CDU Baden-Württemberg and to the federal committee “Science, Research and Innovation” of the CDU in Germany. Bertram is still a member of the non-partisan European Union and the German Atlantic Society .

In Baden-Württemberg, Bertram spoke out against the reintroduction of an established student body and criticized the Green Science Minister Theresia Bauer in this context . Compulsory memberships combined with compulsory contributions do not lead to a strengthening of the student voice at the universities.

In the weekly magazine DIE ZEIT , Bertram criticized the Germany-wide student protests from 2009 and spoke out in favor of continuing the Bologna reforms, but called for corrections to the curricula. In his opinion, competition in particular leads to an increase in quality in education and higher education.

After the CDU lost numerous mayoral elections and mandates in state elections in university cities, Bertram pleaded for a greater opening of the Union to large cities and, in this context, called for the party's personnel and content to be realigned in the large cities: “The election results in large cities are alarming signals for the Union and show that we have not yet managed to address the problems and concerns of people in big cities. Among other things, the CDU must find answers to important questions about childcare or the lack of housing and communicate more effectively. "

In the run-up to the discussion about the plagiarism allegations by Federal Education Minister Annette Schavan , Bertram criticized the procedure for withdrawing her doctorate. The procedure is "implausible without the use of independent experts who determine intentional deception," said Bertram.
