Jens Schöngarth (born December 7, 1988 in Emmendingen ) is a German handball player .
Career
society
The 2.03 m tall right back player Schöngarth began his career with SG Köndringen / Teningen and played for SG in the Regionalliga Süd until 2007 . In 2007 he moved to the second division team HR Ortenau . When HR Ortenau had to file for bankruptcy in 2009, Schöngarth moved to the first division club MT Melsungen . In summer 2012 he moved to league rivals TuS N-Lübbecke . In January 2016, Schöngarth terminated his contract with TuS N-Lübbecke and joined SC Magdeburg . From the 2016/17 season he was under contract with Frisch Auf Göppingen . In the summer of 2019 Schöngarth moved to the second division Handball Sport Verein Hamburg , from whom he was loaned to the Bundesliga club SG Flensburg-Handewitt from January 2020 to summer 2020 to replace the injured Magnus Rød . He then joined the Portuguese first division club Sporting Lisbon .
National team
In addition to 6 internationals for the youth national team, Schöngarth played another 35 internationals for the junior national team. On January 4, 2015, he made his debut in the German national team in the preparation match for the 2015 World Cup against Iceland in Reykjavík .

Schöngarth obtained his secondary school leaving certificate at the Theodor Frank School in Teningen and the technical college entrance qualification for economics at the Max Weber School in Freiburg.
