Jeon So-yeon (born August 26, 1998 in Seoul ), who appears under her first name Soyeon , is a South Korean singer . She is a member of the girl group (G) I-DLE . She previously participated in the casting show Produce 101 and the rap competition Unpretty Rapstar . It also lends the League-of-Legends -Figur Akali in the virtual pop groups K / DA and True damage her voice.

Life

2016–2017: Produce 101 and Unpretty Rapstar

From January to April 2016, Soyeon took part in the casting show Produce 101 as a trainee for the entertainment agency Cube Entertainment . She achieved her best placement in episode 5 when she came tenth. But after the last show she was in 20th place and therefore did not become a member of the new, temporary girl group IOI .

From July 2016, she took part in the third season of the rap show Unpretty Rapstar . Soyeon reached the semi-finals, earning three titles on the show's compilation album .

2018–2019: Debut with (G) I-DLE

In 2018 Soyeon made his debut as the band leader of the girl group (G) I-DLE . She also worked on the production of the debut songs Latata and HANN . She also wrote five songs from the EP I AM .

Furthermore, took on the project Soyeon SM station X 0 of SM Entertainment in part, together with Seulgi of Red Velvet , Chungha and SINB of GFriend . Her song Wow Thing was released on September 28, 2018.

In 2018, the computer game developer Riot Games approached Soyeon and her bandmate Miyeon for a joint project with Jaira Burns and Madison Beer for the virtual K-pop group K / DA for the multiplayer online battle arena game League of Legends . Together they released the song Pop / Stars , with Soyeon setting the character Akali to music. They first appeared before the 2018 League of Legends World Championship final in Incheon . The pop song reached number one on the Billboard World Digital Songs chart .
