Jesse Gregory James (born April 19, 1969 in Lynwood , California ) is an American entrepreneur and television presenter .
James is the founder and owner of West Coast Choppers , a former custom bike maker . He is also the presenter and host of Motorcycle Mania , a US program about motorcycles, and Monster Garage , both of which run on the Discovery Channel .
Life
His great-great-grandfather was a cousin of the famous bandit Jesse James . James grew up in Long Beach , attended La Sierra High School, later Riverside Community College, and after graduating from the University of California .
He played football successfully in college, but his athletic career was ended by a knee injury. He became a bodyguard and worked for bands like Soundgarden , Danzig and Slayer , he also toured with Madonna , Nirvana and Metallica .
Another injury forced him to give up the job as a bodyguard. He decided to get into the customizing business and learned the trade at Boyd Coddington ( American Hot Rod ), a hot rod customizer. West Coast Choppers (WCC) was established in the early 1990s, first textiles were of the style mainly Chopper - Lifestyles sold. James started out in his friend's garage with no pay and no partner. He slowly expanded his workshop into one of the most famous customizing companies. West Coast Choppers built motorcycles valued at $ 50,000 up to $ 150,000 for clients such as Shaquille O'Neal and Kid Rock . In 2009 the company stopped selling WCC motorcycle accessories, and in October 2010 James closed the workshop and store in Long Beach.
James has three children - a daughter, Chandler, and a son, Jesse James Jr., along with his first wife, Karla . He also has a daughter, Sunny, from his second marriage to Janine Lindemulder . On July 16, 2005, James married actress Sandra Bullock . They met at a meeting that Bullock arranged for their eight-year-old godson, who is a huge fan of his.
The following year, on April 28, 2006, James opened the Cisco Burger restaurant in Long Beach . The restaurant is built in the style of the 1950s and was named after his pit bull terrier .
In January 2010 , the couple adopted another child, Louis . In March 2010 James's extramarital affairs became known, as a result of which Sandra Bullock filed for divorce in April 2010. The marriage ended in divorce in June 2010. Since September 2010, he was with the tattoo artist Kat Von D dating. The couple announced their engagement in January 2011, but separated in late July 2011. Since March 2013, James has been in a relationship with the racing driver Alexis DeJoria , who works in drag racing .
Jesse James lives in Austin, Texas , where he is a partner in the Austin Speed Shop and JJFU (Jesse James Firearms Unlimited).
