Location of Jethausen in Lower Saxony

Jethausen is a district of Varel in the district of Friesland in Lower Saxony .

location

Jethausen is located southeast of Varel on the K 108 county road from Varel to Jaderberg . In the north is the Varel district of Streek , in the east of Jethausen there are wide fields that reach as far as the Jade, which is about a kilometer away . The Hohelucht district adjoins it in the south and the Büppel district in the west .

history

Jethausen was first mentioned in 1108 as "Gethusen" in a document in which the Oldenburg Count Egilmar promised the Iburg monastery an annual pension of 90 bundles of eels . A large part of it was supposed to come from “Gethusen”, which at that time was still far inland, but closer to the then still wider Wapel. The Marcellus flood of 1362 created the Jade Bay and the foothills of the Jade Bay reached close to Jethausen. In 1577 a dike was drawn between Jethausen and Hohenberge and the Jethausen housemen were able to purchase parts of the newly diked, fertile marshland . In 1800 there were seven houses in Jethausen, four of which had come from Meierhöfen.
