location
The place lies between the northern Dangast and the southern core area of Varel. To the west is the Varel district of Dangastermoor . The nearby Jade Bay is only three kilometers away.
history
The local historian August Osterloh calls Moorhausen "a relatively young peasantry" . Most of the settlement began between 1860 and 1880. In the centuries before, however, considerable agricultural areas had already been gained through dikes . In view of the boggy soil , however, it was difficult to use. According to Osterloh, agriculture forms the economic basis for the Moorhauser into the 21st century.
In 1912/13, Moorhausen had its own school , which was inaugurated on May 8, 1913. The children had previously gone to school in Dangast and Dangstermoor. The brick building had two classrooms and teachers' apartments as well as a school garden. On July 31, 1973, the school was closed after reforms.
