Neuenwege is a district of Varel in the district of Friesland in Lower Saxony .

Neuenwege is located in the south of Varel at the intersection of the district road 340 from Varel to Lehmden and the district road 107 from Rosenberg to Hohelucht . In the northwest of Neuenwege is the Varel district of Obenstrohe , in the northeast of the district of Büppel . In the east is the Varel district of Neudorf , in the southwest of the district of Rosenberg and in the west, separated by a forest area with the forest lake , is the district of Altjührden .

history

The town of Neuenwege owes its existence to the construction of a dam that led from Büppel over the Wapel to Heubülle from 1650 onwards . The “Neue Weg” was the first crossing of the large moorland west of Streek and Jethausen and north of the Wapel. The first house was built in Neuenwege in 1692, and eleven houses were counted by 1750, including a village jug. The inhabitants lived on the moor . In 1822 the number of houses had not changed, the population was counted at around a hundred people. The people of Neuenweg celebrated the 200th anniversary of the establishment of the town in 1953.
