Works and art projects
Joachim Eckl first caught on in the art world in 1991 with a collaboration with Vito Acconci for the Kollerschlag workshop with the Multi-Bed 2 factory , where he was responsible for production management. At that time there was also a showroom exhibition by Eckl and Georg Lindorfer entitled The Only One . In addition, in cooperation with the then governor Josef Ratzenböck , the two artists organized a promotion of happiness in the Spiel-Casino-Linz, in which the sponsorship money won was used for the exhibition project Bodies and Brains in the Richard Anderson Gallery in New York City.
In 1997 Joachim Eckl created the sculptural painting for the Pro Kaufland shopping center in Linz together with the artist Klaus Rinke . Eckl then opened the Heim.ART-Haus, in which well-known artists have been exhibiting their works since April 1999. In the same year Joachim Eckl, with the help of Nicholas Treadwell, activated the Heim.ART station, a warehouse and former train station in Neufelden , which has since remained in Eckl's possession and offers a home for many projects, exhibitions and workshops.
In the following years Joachim Eckl devoted himself primarily to local projects in Neufelden, Haslach and Linz, until he expanded his radius in 2002 with the River to River project . Following this, Eckl dealt with personal creation , an artistic, intellectual but also spiritual performance that combines the two meanings of the word "creation" - "taking water" and "creation". This project took Eckl as far as Egypt , where in 2008 he carried out the installation and performance Carry Me Home in Cairo at the 11th International Cairo Biennale , directed by the Museum of Modern Egyptian Art and the Al Bab Selim Gallery, together with the Egyptian artist Rasha Ragab has organized.
In 2012 Joachim Eckl was invited by the Forum Altenberg in Bern to take part in the 1st Social Sculpture Days . The organizers and Eckl tried to popularize the term social sculpture in the Swiss art world. Installations followed, such as the ice pyramid, which was built in Faiyum from 25,000 liters of water. In 2016, Joachim Eckl was invited to the Herb Alpert School of Music at CalArts as a visiting artist to give lectures, performances and an event, with CalArts Professor Michael Pisaro as host.
Joachim Eckl contributed the installation The Last Room and the performance The First Drop for the exhibition 6: 9 World Promise of the Art in Building project, which will take place in Munich from January 11 to February 5, 2017 . Joachim Eckl is also working on the Bleaching Time project for the cultural association Textile Kultur Haslach and the Haslach Weaving Museum, where an exhibition of his works took place in the Haslach Textile Center on July 16, 2017. Since September 2, 2017, Joachim Eckl has been organizing weekly river discussions in the creation office of the chapel on OK-Platz in Linz together with the OÖKulturquartier .
Pure water - Danube body in the Lentos Art Museum Linz
From October 3, 2014 to February 15, 2015, a 60-day creation campaign took place under the name Danube Body on the occasion of the exhibition Pure Water . The Lentos Art Museum in Linz helped Joachim Eckl to organize this project, with a total of 60 teams each scooping 1,000 liters of water from the Danube, which were put together in containers to form a unique sculpture that was supposed to illustrate how much water during a whole Life flows through the human body. Most of the activities of this project have recently been shown on HeimART's YouTube channel .
Hotel and restaurant Mühltalhof
Joachim Eckl created the permanent installation Landingplatz for those arriving at the entrance of the Mühltalhof hotel and restaurant , which is located on the banks of the Große Mühl and is known for the Mühlviertel's natural cuisine at toque level. Johanna Eckl, née Rachinger, the wife of Joachim Eckl, is the owner of this establishment together with her brother, Helmut Rachinger. The central point of this installation is a 350 million year old stone, a granite boulder . On August 20, 2017, the Mühltalhof hotel and restaurant together with Joachim Eckl hosted this year's Gelinaz! Does Upper Austria Food Festivals .
