Kollerschlag workshop

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Kollerschlag workshop was founded in 1985 by the brothers Heinz , Wolfgang and Werner Baumüller and acts as an organizational hub for the conception, planning and execution of art projects. The Kollerschlag workshop is in contact with some of the most important contemporary artists. The mediation activity in the execution of the works reaches the most diverse craft areas. Sculptures and sculptures in all materials and sizes are produced.

At the beginning there was the question of how one could manage to bring internationally known and recognized artists to the then rather unknown place Kollerschlag in the upper Mühlviertel . The brothers found the solution in the idea of not only exhibiting the artists' sculptures here, but also producing them.

Three brothers as partners

  • Wolfgang Baumüller , b. 1954, originally took over the family business and was managing director of the Kollerschlag workshop until 2008. His main area of responsibility is the production of the works of art, whereby he creates the production concepts, which he then implements with partner companies, with whom there is usually a long-term basis of trust.
  • Werner Baumüller , b. 1956, has been managing director since 2008. He was originally a copywriter and is now responsible for customer contacts and concepts.

The implementation

In 1986 the Kollerschlag workshop showed its first exhibition. The text on the invitation began with the words: We'll start with Beuys,…. This also set the bar, and the brothers showed that they were right at the top in terms of quality and awareness of the artists. As a result, there was one exhibition each year. The Baumüller family's house, which originally housed a general store with various magazines, has been converted into a modern gallery by the architects Ortner & Ortner Baukunst . There were a total of 10 vernissages in Kollerschlag, to which more and more guests from all over the world came year after year.

As a result, the Kollerschlag workshop concentrated more and more on the areas of “art and architecture”, “ art in public space ” and “art as part of a corporate culture”.
