Wolfgang Baumüller (born May 22, 1954 in Kollerschlag ) is an Austrian art manager , art producer and founder of the Kollerschlag workshop.

Live and act

Wolfgang Baumüller learned the trade of retail salesman . In 1983 he took over his parents' business, a department store in Kollerschlag . His father Heinrich Baumüller, a businessman who died in 1978, was also a sculptor. From 1978 to 1983 the business was run as a widow's business.

In 1980 he married the kindergarten teacher Maria, née Höfler, with whom he has four children. The couple lives in Kollerschlag. His older brother Heinz Baumüller studied art in Linz and Düsseldorf and always brought international artist friends home with him. These circumstances meant that he became interested in art at an early age and began to collect it.

In 1985 he founded the Kollerschlag workshop with his brothers Heinz and Werner Baumüller , with the aim of bringing international artists to Kollerschlag and making their sculptures together with local craftsmen. The former stables of the parents' house have been converted into exhibition rooms. After the grocery store closed in 1988, the sales rooms were also converted into a gallery. Numerous vernissages have taken place since the Kollerschlag workshop was founded. The concept of the Kollerschlag workshop was changed after ten years of exhibition activity. Instead of presenting their own exhibitions, they devoted themselves to the conception and realization of art in public space - art and architecture.

In 2008, Wolfgang Baumüller handed over the role of managing director to his younger brother Werner; he is still primarily responsible for the production of the commissioned artistic works. It also offers regional performing artists an opportunity to perform in a self-built, 7 meter high tipi .

He is also the founding chairman of the regional cultural association “Grenzgänger - Association for Village Development and Culture in Kollerschlag”.
