Jochen Danninger (born May 19, 1975 in Ried im Innkreis ) is an Austrian politician of the ÖVP and was State Secretary in the Ministry of Finance from December 2013 to August 2014 . Since February 27, 2020, he has been the state councilor for economy, tourism and sport in the state government of Mikl-Leitner II .

Life

Danninger completed his law studies at the University of Vienna . After Danninger had completed his judicial year at the Vienna Higher Regional Court in 2001 , he worked as an assistant to Paul Rübig in Brussels as part of the industrial association's trainee program . After his involvement in the National Council election campaign in 2002, he moved to the Austrian Parliament in 2003 to work with National Council President Andreas Khol . When Michael Spindelegger was elected second President of the National Council in 2006, he entrusted Danninger with the management of his office.

In 2009, Jochen Danninger moved to the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs , where he held the position of Head of Cabinet. Danninger played a central role in the government negotiations that followed the 2013 National Council election campaign. As the coordinator of the government negotiations for the ÖVP, everything came together with him.

On December 16, 2013, Jochen Danninger was sworn in as State Secretary for Finance in the Faymann II cabinet . The fact that with Danninger, Finance Minister Michael Spindelegger and SPÖ State Secretary Sonja Stessl none of the three politically responsible persons in the Finance Ministry has an economic education met with criticism . Until his appointment as State Secretary for Finance, he barely appeared in the media. In August 2014 he resigned from this position in the course of the government reshuffle following the resignation of Finance Minister Michael Spindelegger. Danninger also resigned from his work as government coordinator for the ÖVP. Since January 2015 he has been responsible for sustainability and corporate social responsibility at the Hypo Noe Group , which is owned by the Province of Lower Austria . From September 2017 he moved to Ecoplus as commercial director .

On December 20, 2019, it was announced that at the end of February 2020, he would succeed Petra Bohuslav , who had been appointed commercial manager of the Vienna State Opera by Federal Minister Alexander Schallenberg , as state councilor in the state government of Mikl-Leitner II .
