Joel Savage (born December 25, 1969 in Surrey , British Columbia ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played in the National Hockey League for the Buffalo Sabers and in the DEL for the Starbulls Rosenheim , the Frankfurt Lions and the Adler Mannheim .

Player career

The 1.80 m tall winger began his career with the Kelowna Packers in the British Columbia Junior Hockey League and then moved to the Victoria Cougars in the Canadian top junior division Western Hockey League . At the NHL Entry Draft in 1988 he was finally selected ( drafted ) as 13th in the first round by the Buffalo Sabers .

The right-handed shooter then completed his only three NHL appearances in the 1990/91 season , and spent the rest of the time in North America with various farm teams in the American Hockey League and the IHL . In 1995 the Canadian switched to the DEL to the Starbulls Rosenheim, for whom he was on the ice for two years and which he then left for the Frankfurt Lions. His last stop in Germany was the Adler Mannheim in the 1999/00 season . In November 1999, Savage tested positive for pseudoephedrine on a drug test and was banned for a month.

Then the striker signed a contract with the Swiss first division club HC Lugano . Joel Savage ended his career with EV Zug after the 2003/04 season .
