Johan Olof Peter Eklund (born May 30, 1984 in Falun ) is a Swedish football player who has been successful in his career so far primarily as a striker in Swedish professional football.
Career
Eklund comes from the youth of Falu BS . He later moved to IK Brage , for which he came in the second division season 2004 as a substitute for two short appearances in the Superettan . After the end of the season he returned to his youth club Falu BS. There he was one of the guarantors that the club survived a reform in the third division and qualified for the newly created Division 1 . As the club's team spun off and with the teams of Slätta SK and Korsnäs IF together put to the Falu FK to start, he went to a play time for the new club.
In 2008 Eklund returned to the meanwhile also third-rate playing IK Brage. In the third division season of 2009 he scored 21 goals this season and was thus instrumental in the promotion to the Superettan. Here he formed the dangerous offensive with Daniel Åkervall and placed in the second division season 2010 with eleven goals this season among the top ten goal scorers of the second division. After he was only able to keep the class with the club at the end of the following season in the relegation against IF Sylvia , he moved to Allsvenskan for free after his contract expired .
Eklund signed a three-year contract with GIF Sundsvall in November 2011. At the side of Ari Skúlason , Simon Helg , Pontus Engblom , Fredrik Holster and Stefan Ålander , he occupied the relegation place, but against Halmstads BK he missed relegation with the team there. In the second division he scored 15 goals this season, as third in the table behind Falkenbergs FF and Örebro SK , the club entered the relegation again. Again the opponent was Halmstad BK, who prevailed again. In the second division season in 2014 , he also distinguished himself as a goal- scorer , behind the once again successful Kennedy Bakırcıoğlu he finished second in the scorers list with 16 goals this season. Tied on points with front runner Hammarby IF , he rose again to the top class at the end of the season. In autumn he had already extended his contract, which expired at the end of the year, by two seasons.
