His sponsor was the brother of the Palatinate Elector Johann Wilhelm , the Worms Prince-Bishop Franz Ludwig von der Pfalz , who made sustained efforts to find capable priests in his districts. It was through him that Johann Anton Wallreuther came to the diocese of Worms. Due to his abilities, the prince-bishop used him as pastor of Seckenheim near Mannheim as early as 1701, at the age of 28 . In that year he also took over the administration of Neckarau , where he was mainly represented by chaplains. The bishop also transferred the parish of Ladenburg to him from 1701 in place of pastor Carl Desiderius de Royer, who was appointed to the spiritual council in Worms .

He died after almost three years of activity on January 16, 1734 and was buried on January 18 in the St. John's Church , which belongs to the cathedral , where he had long worked as a pastor. There an epitaph with his figurative representation was erected for him, which was transferred to the Church of Our Lady (Worms) in 1812 when St. John was demolished ; it is still there today. His successor as Auxiliary Bishop of Worms was Christian Albert Anton von Merle (1693–1765).
