Johann Ferdinand Caspary

Johann Ferdinand Caspary (born January 19, 1808 in Minden ; † December 9, 1889 there ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

His parents were the Minden merchant Karl Joseph Caspari (* 1766) and his wife Luise Henriette, née Wertheim (* 1776).

Military career

Caspary attended the city school in Minden and the building trade school in Aachen . He then joined the 7th Artillery Brigade of the Prussian Army as a gunner on May 1, 1825 . With interruptions he graduated from the United Artillery and Engineering School in 1826/30 and then advanced to the position of redundant secondary lieutenant . On March 21, 1831, Caspary was entered into the budget and in 1835 he was assigned to the craftsman's company. From 1839 to 1847 he acted as adjutant of the II. Department and rose in the meantime to prime lieutenant . As a captain he became an artillery officer on May 27, 1852 from the square in Minden . From June 8 to December 31, 1855 he was in the 8th Artillery Regiment and then again in the 7th Artillery Regiment. With promotion to Major was appointed him on May 1, 1858 position à la suite of the 3rd Artillery Regiment commander of Trains of III. Army Corps . Caspary rose to lieutenant colonel on October 18, 1861, and was transferred to the 7th Artillery Brigade again on May 9, 1862, as commander of the 2nd division. On June 25, 1864, he was given command of the Westphalian Fortress Artillery Regiment No. 7 in Cologne . In this capacity he was promoted to colonel on June 18, 1865 and was put up for disposal on September 10, 1867 with a pension .

For the duration of the mobilization on the occasion of the war against France , he was appointed commander of the immobile artillery of the 4th Artillery Brigade on October 15, 1870 , and on March 25, 1871 Caspary received the character of major general.

He died in Minden on December 9, 1889.

family

Caspary married Henriette Wilhelmine Düsterberg (1823-1889) in Lippstadt on April 12, 1849 , a daughter of the district physician Felix August Düsterberg. The Stahlhelmführer Theodor Duesterberg was his great-nephew.
