Johann Georg Nef (entrepreneur, 1849)

Johann Georg Nef (* 18th August 1849 in Herisau , † 4. June 1928 ibid ; heimatberechtigt in Herisau) was a Swiss textile manufacturer and Cantonal from the canton of Appenzell Outer Rhodes .

Life

Johann Georg Nef was a son of Johann Georg Nef (1809–1887) and Anna Katharina zahner; He was a brother of Johann Jakob Nef . Johann Georg Nef married Agnes Zürcher, daughter of Adolf Friedrich Zürcher, in 1876. Nef completed a commercial apprenticeship in various textile companies in eastern Switzerland . He supplemented this with stays in Brussels and Italy . He became head and partner of his father's textile trading company . From 1906 this was run under the name Johann Georg Nef und Compagnie. Thanks to adjustments to the range and the opening up of new sales markets , the company's upswing continued under Nef. He opened a branch in New York .

From 1882 to 1888 he was a councilor in Herisau. From 1887 to 1893 he was a member of the Cantonal Council. Nef was a member of the cantonal commission for trade and commerce and the cantonal military commission. Nef repeatedly rejected candidacies for government and national councils. From 1896 to 1928 he was President of the Wiesen Educational Institution in Herisau. From 1914 to 1920 he was Vice President of the Evangelical Synod of Ausserrhoden. He founded a cantonal pension fund for pastors . From 1914 to 1919 he was in command of Territorial District 7. He had the military degree of colonel .
