Johann Georg Schaedler
Johann Georg Schaedler , also Johann Georg Schedler (born April 27, 1777 in Konstanz , † November 21, 1866 in Innsbruck ), was a German painter , etcher and lithographer .
Life
Johann Georg Schaedler, a half-orphan from the age of seven, did an apprenticeship with painter Herrmann in Constance. This introduced him to the art dealer Bleuler in Schaffhausen, for whom he produced copperplate engravings in the Aberlian manner . He worked as a journeyman for the landscape painter Johann Caspar Huber in Zurich for six years . After the French invaded Switzerland in 1798/99, he fled to Konstanz, a short time later he moved to Augsburg and completed his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna . From 1804 he lived in Innsbruck, where he worked as a painter and etcher and witnessed the Tyrolean uprising . He was also the owner of the Katzung'schen coffee house.
He became known in particular for his views , costumes and portraits , with the Tyrolean freedom hero Andreas Hofer particularly preferred as a motif.
He also made a well-known etching of the Leopoldsbrunnen in Innsbruck. It depicts the pleasure fountain created by Caspar Gras between 1622 and 1630 for Leopold V in a completely different way than the controversial form that the Leopold fountain was given by Johann Wunibald Deininger in 1893 after the plan for the original design was lost .
