Johann Gottfried Misler (born January 11, 1679 in Worms , † March 28, 1748 in Hamburg ) was a German Evangelical Lutheran theologian .

Life

Misler was the son of the theologian and pedagogue Johann Hartmann Misler (1642-1698) and his wife Anna Kunigunde Rühl (1646-1700), daughter of Worms Stättmeisters , born Johannes Rühl (1605-1673) in Worms, where his father then rector of the Municipal Latin School was.

After his education studying Misler theology and was on January 20, 1706 Chaplain in Swedish Gyldensternschen Infantry - Regiment . After three years, on September 6, 1709, Misler was appointed pastor at Sankt Martini in Lesum and again three years later, on January 22, 1713, as the deacon of the main church Sankt Nikolai in Hamburg. He took up this office on March 22, 1713 and later became archdeacon . In 1743 he also became the oldest member and thus President of the Ministry in Hamburg. Misler died in Hamburg in 1748 at the age of 69.

On February 3, 1711 he married Anna Catharina Matthaei (1693–1750), daughter of the theologian Martin Matthaei (1666–1728). His children were:

  4. Johann Gottfried (1720–1789), senior secretary ⚭ 1754 Maria Schramm (1734–1777), daughter of the first marriage of the merchant Hieronymus Schramm (1701–1751), and thus stepdaughter of her sister-in-law Elisabeth Misler
  5. Johann Hartmann (1724–1807), District Court Actuary ⚭ 1756 Catharina Dorothea Hinsche (1728–1808), daughter of Senator Nicolaus Hinsche (1689–1765)
