Johann IV. (Saxony-Lauenburg)

Johann IV of Saxony-Lauenburg-Ratzeburg (* July 18, 1439 - August 15, 1507 ) was Duke of Saxony-Lauenburg from the house of the Ascanians from 1463 .
Life
Johann's parents were Duke Bernhard II of Saxony-Lauenburg (around 1385–1463) and Adelheid of Pomerania (1410–1444 / 45), daughter of Duke Bogislaw VIII of Pomerania-Rügenwalde . Johann followed his father in 1463 as Duke of Saxony-Lauenburg.
Johann continued to hold on to the electoral title and the office of arch marshal and initially refused to accept the Lauenburg fief from his hand without the imperial confirmation of these rights. Furthermore, the duke was in a constant dispute with Lübeck over the city of Mölln , in which he could not do anything. His grave slab in the Ratzeburg Cathedral shows him and his wife in relief in arched niches.

On February 12, 1464, Johann married Dorothea (1446–1519), daughter of Elector Friedrich II of Brandenburg in Lüneburg . He had the following children with her:
