Johann Joachim Susemihl

Johann Joachim Susemihl (* 1756 in Bössow ; † May 14, 1797 in Vienna ) was a German Evangelical Lutheran clergyman and the second superintendent of the Evangelical Church AB in Austria in Vienna.

Life

Joachim Susemihl came from a Mecklenburg pastor dynasty and was the son of the pastor of the village church Bössow Johann Bernhard Susemihl (* around 1718 in Bössow; † 1766 ibid). He studied Protestant theology at the University of Bützow and at the University of Kiel . After his exams he went to the German School in Stockholm as vice-principal . From there he came to the Royal Swedish Legation Chapel in Vienna in 1782 as an embassy preacher. When this was lifted in 1787, he was appointed pastor of the Church of St. Margarethen in Patzig on Rügen in Swedish Western Pomerania .

In 1796 he succeeded Johann Georg Fock as first preacher at the Lutheran City Church in Vienna. On August 8, 1796, he was appointed the first spiritual councilor of the Consistory AB and superintendent of the Evangelical Superintendentur AB Vienna (which at that time also included the Evangelical Lutheran parishes in Lower and Inner Austria ).

His eldest son Franz Wilhelm Adolph Ludwig became a partner in the bookstore of Georg Joachim Göschen and married his daughter Henriette in June 1816, but died on December 30, 1816. Two other sons, Joachim Bernhard Susemihl and Gustav Susemihl , became administrative lawyers in the Danish service.
