Johann Kaspar von Cosel

Johann Kaspar von Cosel (born August 23, 1666 in Berlin , † March 18, 1738 in Fischhausen ) was a Prussian lieutenant general , chief of the Dragoon Regiment No. VI. as well as governor of Fischhausen and knight of the order de la Générosité .

Life

origin

His father was the kurbrandenburger Kammergerichtsrat and magistrate and Hofrentmeister Andreas von Cosel , who in 1667 by Emperor Leopold I in the nobility raised was. His mother was Eva Maria Striepen .

Military career

In 1684 Cosel went into Brandenburg service and in 1692 became a lieutenant in the "Sonsfeld" dragoon regiment . In 1703 he became captain , on February 10, 1705 major and on January 30, 1711 lieutenant colonel . On July 20, 1716 he became a colonel in his regiment under von Albe , and in 1720 he was commander in the association renamed the cuirassier regiment "von Wylich and Lottum" . In June 1727 Cosel got his own regiment. He received the five squadrons of the Dragoon Regiment "von Wuthenau" . The following year he was made major general. On September 11, 1734, he was retired as Lieutenant General and three days later he was appointed governor of Fischhausen.

family

He was married to Katharina von Elverich called Haes and had descendants. The Prussian general Dietrich Christoph Gotthold von Cosel (1752–1825) is his great-grandson. The family is not related to the Countess von Cosel .
