history

Epitaph of the bailiff Balthasar Striepe and Ursula geb. Gartz in the monastery church Arendsee

The Striepe were citizens and council relatives of Salzwedel and officials in Arendsee (Altmark) before they came to Berlin , where they repeatedly appointed government councilors and mayors .

The bailiff at Arendsee, Balthasar Striepe († 1641), was the heir to Lückstedt . He had acquired both goods at Lückstedt with half a village each (1620/1621 and 1625) and combined them into one property. His son, bailiff Hoyer Striepe, bought Salzwedel Castle in 1667 , he had the bridge and gate, vault and building repaired, then he wanted to partially demolish the old main house and build something new, but before that, his son, bailiff Balthasar Heinrich (Balzer Henrich) Striepe, had no interest in it. He sold the castle in 1692.

Chüden family tree (1704), on the left, including Balthasar and Ursula Striepe with some of their offspring

The court and higher court councilors at the Altmark High Court, Hoyer Sigismund Striepe († 1743) and Johann Ludewig Striepe, were estate owners ; the first on Vinzelberg , the second on Insel, etc. Vinzelberg was a joint loan from the Striepen since 1664. From 1677 to 1772 they had two knight seats, most recently the senior judge (von) Striepe ibid. From 1686–1706 the island was owned by the von Treffenfeld family, with court and patronage; 1706–1750 it belonged to the Striepe, 1750–1783 to the von Scharden brothers.
