Johann Conrad Dannhauer
Johann Conrad Dannhauer , also Johann Konrad Dannhauer (born March 24, 1603 in Köndringen im Breisgau , † November 7, 1666 in Strasbourg ) was a German Lutheran theologian , professor of eloquence / rhetoric , hermeneutic and poet .
Life
The pastor's son attended grammar school and seminary in Strasbourg, and then studied theology in Marburg , at the University of Altdorf and in Jena . In 1628 he became inspector of the preachers' seminary in Strasbourg , 1629 professor of rhetoric, 1633 professor of theology, pastor at the Strasbourg cathedral , president of the church convent and dean of the Thomasstift . He was an opponent of Calvinism and syncretism , which u. a. was represented by Georg Calixt . His students included Johannes Fecht and Philipp Jacob Spener , one of the most important exponents of Pietism .
His main work is Man a Wanderer, Life the Way, Holy Scripture the Light, God the Destination, Heaven the Home . With the text Hodosophia Christiana sive Theologia positiva formulated in symbolic-allegorical form, he acted as a mediator between Lutheran orthodoxy and Pietism. "Dannhauer flanked the dogmatic doctrinal structure of his 'Christian wisdom' ... with two [much more extensive] polemical writings, a 'Papal Folly' and a 'Calvinian Folly' ..."
