Johann Philipp Neumann
Johann Philipp Neumann (born December 27, 1774 in Trebitsch , Moravia , † October 3, 1849 in Vienna ) was an Austrian physicist, librarian and poet.
In 1810/11 he was rector of the University of Graz . From 1815 to 1845 he held a professorship at the Polytechnic Institute in Vienna (today the Technical University ), whose library he founded in 1816 and headed until 1843.
He composed the text for the German Mass by Franz Schubert , the composition of which was completed in 1827. He also wrote the text for the unfinished opera Sakontala , D 701.
