Johann Preleuthner
Johann Baptist Preleuthner , also Preleithner (born December 27, 1807 in Vienna , † August 4, 1897 Villa Harthof near Gloggnitz ) was an Austrian sculptor .
Life
Johann Preleuthner was initially a student of his stepfather Johann Nepomuk Schaller . In 1820 he studied at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts and then at the Munich Academy under Ludwig Schwanthaler . In 1848 he was elected a member of the Vienna Academy and in 1866 by Emperor Franz Joseph I confirmed it.
Among his works are the life-sized portrait statues of Andreas Hofer and Field Marshal Johann Graf Palffy for Feldherrenhalle of 1856 completed "kuk Hofwaffenmuseum" (now Museum of Military History ), which he created in 1869 and 1873rd Preleuthner also worked with Anton Dominik von Fernkorn at times .
In 1928 the Preleuthnersteig in Vienna- Hietzing was named after him.

Preleuthner furnished numerous buildings from the Ringstrasse era in Vienna with his sculptures and reliefs.
