Johann Schadenbauer

Johann Schadenbauer (also Hans Schadenbauer ) (born June 18, 1937 in Maria Lankowitz ) is an Austrian composer and conductor and was military bandmaster from 1971 to 2002.

Life

Schadenbauer received clarinet lessons while at school and worked with the Piberstein mountain band. In 1957 he enlisted for the Styrian Military Music . After completing his clarinet studies at the Vienna University of Music and taking his exam to become a military bandmaster, he was Kapellmeister of the Military Music Burgenland from July 1, 1971 to November 30, 1975 , and also taught at the Eisenstadt Conservatory . From December 1, 1975 he was Kapellmeister of the Guard Music in Vienna . With the diploma thesis on the subject of the military music of the first federal army in the federal capital Vienna (1918-1938) damage contractors graduated to the Magister artium . On November 30, 2002 Schadenbauer retired with the rank of colonel , successor was Bernhard Heher .

From 1978 he succeeded Friedrich Hodick as regional music director of the Vienna Brass Band Association (WBV). In this position he was the artistic director of the Austrian Brass Music Festival from 1981 . On March 28, 2009, he handed over the role of regional music director to Herbert Klinger. Schadenbauer is now honorary bandmaster of the WBV.

He has recorded numerous albums with the Original CM Ziehrer Orchester and the Guard Music Vienna . With the Ziehrer Orchestra he also provides the musical accompaniment for Viennese balls.
