Johannes Buder

Johannes Buder (born November 16, 1884 in Berlin , † July 18, 1966 in Halle (Saale) ; completely Walter Hermann Johannes Buder ) was a German biologist and university professor . Its botanical author's abbreviation is " Buder ".

From 1904, Johannes Buder studied natural sciences at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität in Berlin, where he received his doctorate in 1908. In 1911 he became a private lecturer and in 1917 associate professor for botany at the University of Leipzig . In 1922 he was offered the chair of botany at the University of Greifswald , where he also became director of the botanical garden . In Greifswald he substantially reorganized the Botanical Institute and created work opportunities for plant physiological research.

From 1928 to 1945 he held the professorship for botany at the University of Breslau and from 1947 until his retirement in 1956 he was professor for botany at the University of Halle .

Buder's main areas of research were stimulus physiology , chimeras and generation change in plants. He was co-editor of the Archives for Protist Studies .

Several of his students later became well-known biologists, such as Wilhelm Nultsch , Hans Günter Schlegel , Gerhart Drews and Horst Lyr .

Buder's resting place is in the Laurentius cemetery in Halle.
