Johannes Hagemeister (* 1502 in Barth ; † 1569 in Körlin ) was a German theologian of the Reformation period in Pomerania .

Life

The son of Albrecht Hagemeister from Barth studied theology at the University of Greifswald in 1522 . He was heard as a witness in the court proceedings against the pastor's complaint against the city of Stralsund before the Reich Chamber of Commerce. In 1529 he gave lectures at the Greifswald artist faculty . After promotion to the Master , he was canon at St. Nikolai Cathedral . In 1537 he was elected rector of the university. In the same year he represented the city of Greifswald in the dispute over a vicarie , which had been transferred to Johannes Erp after Wichmann Kruse's death († 1534).

After switching to Protestantism , he left the university and in 1538 became pastor at the Nikolaikirche in Anklam . There he got into a dispute with the city council and the general superintendent Johannes Knipstro , whereupon he was removed from his office in 1544 by Duke Philip I of Pomerania-Wolgast . He then stayed in Pasewalk and Stettin before becoming a prepositor in Treptow at Rega in 1559 . He took part in the General Synods in Szczecin in 1561 and 1562. He then took over the pastorate in Körlin , which he held until his death in 1569.

family

Johannes Hagemeister was married to Ottilie von Moltke. The marriage resulted in the sons Lucas and Johann Hagemeister, later secret councilors at the court in Stettin. His grandson Johann Hagemeister (1576–1638) founded the noble line of the family on Hohenselchow . The youngest son Joachim Hagemeister, like his descendants, was ducal councilor in Wolgast .
