Johannes Hunnius

Aegidius Friedrich Hermann Karl Johannes Hunnius (born May 20, 1852 in Nermsdorf , † April 26, 1943 in Weimar ) was a German lawyer and politician . He was Saxony-Weimar-Eisenach Finance Minister (1901–1918)

Life

Born as the son of a theologian , Hunnius studied after attending the Carl-Friedrich-Gymnasium in Eisenach and his time as a volunteer in the infantry regiment “Grand Duke of Saxony” (5th Thuringian) No. 94, with whom he was a lieutenant in German-French War 1870/71 fought and was badly wounded, law in Jena and Göttingen . During his studies he became a member of the Arminia fraternity in the castle cellar in Jena in 1871/72 . He was promoted to Dr. iur. doctorate and after his assessor examination in 1878 and his time as a district judge at the district court of Buttstädt (1879–1883) and Apolda (1883–1884) as a speaker and in 1886 as a lecturer council and finance council responsible for all legal questions about state property. In 1898 he became a ministerial director . From 1901 to 1918 he was chief (minister) of the grand-ducal Saxony-Weimar-Eisenacher department of finance. He became a Real Privy Councilor and an Excellency in 1910 . He worked for many years in the local council or in the city ​​council of Weimar. In 1918 he retired.
