Johannes Rüegg-Storm

Johannes Rüegg-Stürm (born June 24, 1961 , legal resident in Glarus Süd and Gommiswald ) is a Swiss business economist and manager. He is a full professor for Organization Studies and Director of the Institute for Systemic Management and Public Governance at the University of St. Gallen .

biography

Education

Johannes Rüegg-Stürm studied business administration at the University of St. Gallen from 1980 to 1986, specializing in finance and accounting . His studies were interrupted by various internships in industry and by military service . From 1986 to 1989, Rüegg-Stürm completed a doctoral degree and worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Business Administration . The dissertation on the subject of " Corporate Development and Corporate Ethics " was awarded the Amicitia Prize and the Dr. Peter Werhahn Prize awarded.

Entrepreneurial practice and shared responsibility

From 1989 to 1992 Johannes Rüegg-Stürm gained entrepreneurial experience in project management functions in the areas of “Development of reporting and accounting systems” and “Group Control” in the Finance division at Ciba Geigy AG in Basel . Johannes Rüegg-Stürm has been a junior lecturer for business administration and organization at the Institute for Business Administration at the University of St. Gallen since 1993 . From 1995 to 1996 he was a Visiting Research Fellow at the Center for Corporate Strategy and Change ( Andrew Pettigrew ), Warwick Business School at the University of Warwick in Coventry in the United Kingdom . In 1998 he completed his habilitation on the subject of “corporate transformation” with simultaneous election as private lecturer and assistant professor for business administration at the University of St. Gallen. In 1999 he was awarded the Latsis Prize . From 2002 to 2009 Johannes Rüegg-Stürm was director of the Institute for Business Administration at the University of St. Gallen. In 2005 he made a research stay at the University of St. Andrews in the United Kingdom ( Robert Chia ). Since 2010 he has been director of the Institute for Systemic Management and Public Governance at the University of St. Gallen, head of the research center "Organization Studies", program director of the interdisciplinary HSG master's program M.A. in management, organization and culture (MOK-HSG) .

From 2011 Johannes Rüegg-Stürm was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Raiffeisen Switzerland , the third largest banking group in Switzerland. On March 8, 2018, there was a change at the top of the Raiffeisen Switzerland Board of Directors: Prof. Dr. Johannes Rüegg-Stürm had decided to resign from office with immediate effect.

Transfer and advice

Before that, Johannes Rüegg-Stürm worked for many years as a seminar speaker , trainer and speaker in the areas of integrative overall management, corporate strategy development, management of strategic change, solution-oriented leadership and communication , strategic process management / operational excellence as well as controlling for managers (multiple awards with Best Teacher Award ). He was also the designer of tailor-made integrative training concepts in the areas of management and corporate development as well as process facilitator and consultant in the areas of leadership and strategy development, management of strategic change, strategic process management / operational excellence of profit-oriented companies ( SMEs and large companies ), social service organizations and public organizations ( Army , hospitals , schools ).

Private

Johannes Rüegg-Stürm was born in Glarus and has lived in Schmerikon as of 2019. He is married and has three grown children. He is a passionate mountaineer.

Research and teaching focus

His research and teaching focuses are integrative corporate and leadership development, entrepreneurial strategy development and management of strategic change, strategic process management , systemic-constructivist approaches and methods in management research and management practice, healthcare management (management development in hospitals , management of integrated care networks).
