Johannes Rammelt

Johannes Karl Rammelt (born June 9, 1873 in Weißenfels ; † after 1945) was a German educator , librarian and politician ( DVP ).

Life and work

After graduating from the Latin School in Halle (Saale) , Rammelt began studying classical philology and history at the universities in Halle (Saale) and Berlin , which he completed in 1897 with the state examination for higher teaching qualifications. In the same year he was promoted to Dr. phil. doctorate (dissertation: The question of who was responsible for the destruction of Magdeburg in 1631 ). During his studies he became a member of the Fridericiana Halle in 1892 . From 1902 he worked as a senior teacher at the city grammar school in Halle, became director of the Melanchthong grammar school in Wittenberg in 1909, and from 1912 to 1920 he was a senior school officer and department head for higher education in Anhalt . In 1917 he was appointed to the government and high school board.

Rammelt took part in the First World War as a soldier from 1914 to 1915 and was discharged from the Reichswehr as a major in the Landwehr . From 1922 to 1932, with a brief interruption during his work in the Anhalt State Ministry in 1924, he was Director of the Anhalt State Library in Dessau as Senior Councilor . From June 1932 to June 1938 he was department head for the school system in the Anhalt state government.

In the address book for Dessau, Rammelt is listed with his residence at Ringstrasse 22.

politics

Rammelt joined the German People's Party (DVP) and was chairman of the party's Anhalt State Association. From 1924 to 1932 he was a member of the Anhalt State Parliament . On August 4, 1924, he replaced Wilhelm Thierkopf , who had left the Reichstag, to which he was a member until December 1924. From October 3, 1929, when he replaced the late MP Walther Kulenkampff , until 1930 he was again a member of the Reichstag.

From July 9th to November 24th, 1924, Rammelt served as the Anhalt State Councilor in the state government led by Prime Minister Willy Knorr ( Knorr cabinet ).
