Johannes Severin (born December 10, 1869 in Breslau , † October 25, 1937 in Berlin ) was a German lieutenant general .

Life

Severin joined the Fusilier Regiment No. 38 on October 12, 1889 . On May 14, 1890 he was in the rank of portepee ensign and on January 18, 1891 he was promoted to second lieutenant in the regiment . From 1894 to 1896 he was an adjutant . From 1897 he served for two years in the teaching infantry battalion in Potsdam . His promotion to first lieutenant took place on July 16, 1899, when he was transferred back to the Fusilier Regiment No. 38. He stayed there until September 30, 1913. Previously, he rose to captain there on June 16, 1904, and most recently served as chief of the 6th company inside. On October 1, 1913, he was promoted to major , combined with the transfer to the fusilier regiment "von Steinmetz" (West Prussian) No. 37 . From June 21, 1918 to March 1919, Severin was in command of the infantry regiment “Prince Friedrich of the Netherlands” (2nd Westphalian) No. 15 . For his behavior as regimental commander in the defensive battle at Barricourt in the defensive battle against the Americans , the major was proposed on October 22, 1918 for the award of the order Pour le Mérites, as can be seen from his regimental history.

After the end of the war and return home, the Freikorps "Severin" was formed, and he acted as its commander. Severin was then accepted into the Reichswehr , promoted to colonel with a patent on March 1, 1921 , and as such was in command of the 16th Infantry Regiment from June 15, 1921 to March 31, 1925 . He was promoted to major general on February 1, 1926 and was city ​​commandant of Berlin from March 1, 1925 to March 1, 1928 . In April 1928 Severin was retired from active service with the character of Lieutenant General.

At the request of the Federation of “Associations formerly 15s”, in 1931 he wrote their regimental history for the period of the First World War.
