John Blacklaw (born December 8, 1970 ) is a German pool player .

Career

At the German championship 2001 , Blacklaw reached the quarter-finals of a German championship for the first time in 8-ball . A year later he won his first medal with bronze in 14/1 endlessly . After not getting beyond 13th place in 14/1 in 2003 , he won the bronze medal in 8-ball in 2004 . At the German championship in 2005 , he finished ninth in 8-ball. In 2006 he won the bronze medal in 8-ball and was fifth in 14/1 endless, in 2007 he was third in 8-ball.

At the German championship in 2008 Blacklaw reached the final in 14/1 for the first time, which he lost to Alexander Dremsizis . He was also fifth in the 8-ball. In April 2009 he took part in the European Championship for the first time and reached the final round in 8-Ball, in which he was defeated by Poland's Adam Skoneczny 2-8 in the round of 32. In October 2009 he again managed to get into the 14/1 endless final at the German championship , in which he was now able to prevail 150: 4 against his club mate Dominic Jentsch . In addition, he reached the quarter-finals in 8-ball and 9-ball.

At the EM 2010 he reached the quarter-finals in 14/1, in which he was defeated by the later European champion David Alcaide with 80: 125. He also reached the round of 16 in the 8-ball and the round of 32 in the first-ever 10-ball competition. In the run-up to the EM there was some discussion about Blacklaw's nomination. Although national coach Andreas Huber had proposed to the DBU after the German championship in 2009 to nominate Blacklaw for the EM, Thorsten Hohmann was nominated first. Only because of his cancellation Blacklaw played at the European Championships. In October 2010 Blacklaw became German 8-ball champion with a 9: 8 win in the final against Dominic Jentsch . At the European Championship 2011 Blacklaw reached the round of 32 in 8-Ball and 10-Ball. At the German Championship 2011 , he won the bronze medal in 14/1 endlessly after he was eliminated in the semifinals against Sascha-Andrej Tege .

In the 2004/05 season Blacklaw rose with the PBC Schwerte 87 in the 2nd Bundesliga . He then moved to the second division BSG Osnabrück , with whom he won the German 8-ball team cup in 2005. At the end of the 2005/06 season , in which the Osnabrück took fourth place, Blacklaw moved to the Bundesliga club BSV Pfullingen , with whom he reached third place in the 2006/07 season . He then moved to third division Hannover 96 , with whom he rose twice in a row and was third in the first division in the 2009/10 season . In the following season he rose to the second division with the PBC Lingen , whereupon the promotion to the Bundesliga was immediately made in 2012 . After relegation to the second division followed with seventh place in the 2012/13 season, the entire Lingen club was canceled after the 2014/15 season , after relegation had been achieved in an unprecedented final sprint. In 2015 Blacklaw returned to BSG Osnabrück, with whom he played in the 2nd Bundesliga in the 2015/16 season .

In 2010 Blacklaw was part of Team Germany 2 , which reached the quarter-finals at the World Team Championship .

Blacklaw, who lives in Bremen , also plays passively at the Bremen Billard Club .
