John Bryson

John Bryson (born June 20, 1819 in Pennsylvania , †  October 11, 1907 ) was an American politician . He was Mayor of Los Angeles in 1888 and 1889.

Career

Nothing is known about John Bryson's youth and schooling. He worked as a carpenter and later as a building contractor. He also worked in the banking industry. He came to Los Angeles at an unknown time. Politically, he joined the Democratic Party . In 1888 he was elected mayor of the city. He held this office between December 10, 1888 and February 25, 1889. Then he lost this office again after the adoption of a new city charter. Later he was president of a local railway company. John Bryson died on October 11, 1907.
