From 1963 to 1965 he was story editor in the European branch of Twentieth Century Fox , from 1965 freelance writer.
In the late 1930s, Burke was a member of the British SF fandom and had published stories in fanzines such as The Fantast . 1947 first novel, was published Swift Summer , for which he 1947 Atlantic Award in Literature of the Foundation Rockefeller received. First professional genre publications began in 1952 with the horror story The Lost Child , which appeared in Magpie magazine, its SF debut was in January 1953 with the publication of Crossroads in New Worlds . In the following years Burke wrote novels and short stories under a variety of pseudonyms, not in the SF genre as well as in the horror and weird fiction area , and there were also a few crime novels.
From the 1960s, novel versions were the focus. Burke wrote the “book about the film” for Blick zurück im Zorn , The Lion of Sparta , The Daring Men in Their Flying Chests , Chitti Chitti Bang Bang , Bandits on the Moon and numerous other films and TV series.
