John Gordon (Archbishop)
John Gordon (born July 25, 1912 in Clare Castle , County Clare , Ireland , † January 30, 1981 in Rome ) was a Roman Catholic Archbishop and Vatican diplomat .
Life
John Gordon received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of Naples on March 7, 1936 .
On February 10, 1962, Pope John XXIII appointed him . the titular archbishop of Nicopolis ad Nestum and ordered him to apostolic delegate in Thailand . The Cardinal Secretary of State Amleto Giovanni Cardinal Cicognani donated him the episcopal ordination on June 24th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the auxiliary bishop in Dublin , Patrick Joseph Dunne , and the apostolic nuncio in Albania , Archbishop Leone Giovanni Battista Nigris .
On August 19, 1967, John Gordon was appointed by Pope Paul VI. appointed Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in South Africa and Lesotho . On August 11, 1971, John Gordon became Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in India . Paul VI appointed him on June 11, 1976 as Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in the Netherlands . Gordon resigned from this office in November 1978.
John Gordon attended the second and fourth sessions of the Second Vatican Council .
