Jokioinen [ ˈjɔkiɔi̯nɛn ] ( Swedish. Jockis ) is a municipality in the south of Finland with 5195 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2018).
location
The municipality is located in the Kanta-Häme countryside, nine kilometers west of the town of Forssa . The other neighboring communities of Jokioinen are Tammela , Somero , Ypäjä and Humppila .
The municipality of Jokioinen, through which the Loimijoki river flows, consists of about half of forests and half of agricultural land. In addition to the community center, Jokioinen includes the villages of Haapaniemi, Jänhijoki, Kiipu, Lammi, Latovainio, Minkiö, Minkiön asema, Niemi, Ojainen, Pellilä, Rehtijärvi, Saari and Vaulammi.

Jokioinen is in the cold temperate climate zone ( Köppen : Dfc ). The long-term mean, the average annual temperature is 4.34 ° C, the average monthly temperatures over the year are between −6.44 ° C and 16.19 ° C.
history
The history of Jokioinen is closely linked to that of the manor of the same name founded in 1562. The landlords set up factories in Jokioinen in the 18th and 19th centuries and made the municipality one of the most important industrial centers in the region. Today's main building was built between 1794 and 1802, the three-story granary with the striking bell tower in 1810.
The church of Jokioinen was built in 1631 and is one of the oldest wooden churches in the country.
In 1898 the Jokioinen – Forssa line , a narrow-gauge railway between Humppila and Forssa, was opened. The Jokioisten Museorautatie company will run a 14 km long museum railway with historical trains.
