José Benedicto Moscoso Miranda

José Benedicto Moscoso Miranda (born July 7, 1959 in San Luis Jilotepeque , Jalapa Department ) is a Guatemalan clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Jalapa .

Life

José Benedicto Moscoso Miranda studied accounting and philosophy before going into the seminary in Jalapa occurred. After studying Catholic theology at the Salesian Theological Institute , he received the sacrament of ordination on January 3, 1987 .

After his ordination, Moscoso Miranda worked as a pastor in various parishes in the diocese of Jalapa. He was also a member of the Council of Priests . José Benedicto Moscoso Miranda later became pastor of the parish of La Sagrada Familia and dean of the El Progreso region, as well as a member of the college of consultors .

On March 30, 2020, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Jalapa. The bishop of Huehuetenango , Cardinal Álvaro Ramazzini , ordained him episcopal on June 29 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the bishop emeritus of Jalapa, Julio Edgar Cabrera Ovalle , and the bishop of Sololá-Chimaltenango , Gonzalo de Villa y Vásquez SJ .
