The Diocese of Sololá-Chimaltenango ( lat. : Dioecesis Sololensis-Chimaltenangensis ) is in Guatemala situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Sololá . It includes the departments of Sololá and Chimaltenango .

history

Pope Pius XII founded the Diocese of Sololá on March 10, 1951 from cessions of territory from the Diocese of Quetzaltenango, Los Altos and the Archdiocese of Guatemala , to which it was subordinated as a suffragan .

Part of the territory gave it up on April 27, 1967 to the diocese of Santa Cruz del Quiché . On February 13, 1996 it became part of the ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Los Altos Quetzaltenango-Totonicapán and was given its current name in the same year.
