The territorial prelate Santo Cristo de Esquipulas ( Latin Praelatura territorialis Sanctissimi Domini Nostri Jesus Christ de Esquipulas ) is in Guatemala situated Roman Catholic territorial prelate based in Esquipulas . It includes the municipality of Esquipulas in the Guatemalan department of Chiquimula .
history
Pope Pius XII founded it on November 21, 1957 with the Apostolic Constitution Cum Christ from cession of territory of the diocese of Zacapa . It originally shared the bishop with the Archdiocese of Guatemala aeque principaliter .
On the basis of the Bull Qui pro munere John Paul II. It has shared the bishop with the diocese of Zacapa aeque principaliter since June 24, 1986 .
