The Diocese of Quiché ( lat. : Dioecesis Quicensis ) is in Guatemala situated Roman Catholic diocese , based in Santa Cruz del Quiché . It includes the department of El Quiché .
history
Pope Paul VI founded the diocese of Santa Cruz del Quiché on April 27, 1967 from cession of territory of the Vistum Sololá , which was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Guatemala as a suffragan .
On February 13, 1996 it became part of the ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Los Altos Quetzaltenango-Totonicapán . It was given its current name on July 11, 2000.
