José Dalvit

José Maria Dalvit MCCJ (born September 15, 1919 in Pressano di Pavia , Lombardy , † January 17, 1977 in São Mateus ) was an Italian religious and Roman Catholic bishop of São Mateus in Brazil .

Life

José Dalvit joined the Congregation of the Comboni Missionaries in and received on 10 April 1943, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

Pope John XXIII appointed him on May 9, 1959 as the first bishop of the diocese of São Mateus, newly established in the previous year . The Apostolic Nuncio in Brazil, Archbishop Armando Lombardi , donated him episcopal ordination on June 29 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Vitória , João Batista da Mota e Albuquerque , and the Prelate of Santo Antônio de Balsas , Diego Parodi MCCJ.

He participated in all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a council father.

On May 14, 1970 Pope Paul VI. his health-related waiver of the diocese of São Mateus and appointed him titular bishop of Sullectum . On March 16 of the following year he renounced the titular seat Sullectum due to the changed allocation guidelines.

On October 5, 1973, Pope Paul VI appointed him. Titular Bishop of Munatiana and Auxiliary Bishop in Belo Horizonte .

His tomb is in the old São Mateus Cathedral.
