José Moreira de Melo (born August 3, 1941 in Serra do Salitre , Minas Gerais , Brazil ) is a Brazilian clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic bishop of Itapeva .

Life

José Moreira de Melo received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Patos de Minas on January 27, 1968 .

On 17 January 1996 appointed him Pope John Paul II. To the Bishop of Itapeva . The bishop of Patos de Minas, João Bosco Oliver de Faria , donated him episcopal ordination on March 25 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Uberaba , Benedito de Ulhôa Vieira , and the Archbishop of Sorocaba , José Lambert Filho CSS .

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on October 19, 2016.
