José de Jesús Martínez Zepeda

José de Jesús Martínez Zepeda (born September 4, 1941 in Tepeji del Río de Ocampo , Hidalgo ) is a Mexican clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic bishop of Irapuato .

Life

José de Jesús Martínez Zepeda was ordained a priest on September 28, 1968 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him on March 11, 1997 titular bishop of Naratcata and auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Mexico . The Archbishop of Mexico , Norberto Rivera Carrera , ordained him episcopal on April 12 of the same year; Co- consecrators were Ernesto Cardinal Corripio y Ahumada , Old Archbishop of Mexico, and Mario Espinosa Contreras , Bishop of Tehuacán .

On January 3, 2004 he was appointed the first bishop of the diocese of Irapuato , established on the same date .

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on March 11, 2017.
