José de Queirós Alves

José de Queirós Alves CSsR (born May 6, 1941 in Soalhães , Portugal ) is a Portuguese religious and emeritus Roman Catholic Archbishop of Huambo .

Life

José de Queirós Alves joined the Congregation of the Redemptorists in, put on 15 August 1960, the profession , and received on 2 August 1966, the priestly ordination .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Menongue on September 12, 1986 . The Archbishop of Huambo, Francisco Viti , donated him episcopal ordination on November 23 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Fortunato Baldelli , Apostolic Delegate in Angola and Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in São Tomé and Príncipe , and Pedro Luís António , Bishop of Kwito-Bié .

He was appointed Archbishop of Huambo on May 3, 2004, and was introduced to the office on June 27 of the same year. On October 1, 2018, Pope Francis accepted José de Queirós Alves' resignation for reasons of age.
