Josef Beyer (born February 22, 1843 in Vienna ; † August 21, 1917 there ) was an Austrian sculptor of historicism .

Life

Josef Beyer learned from 1853 in the kk ore foundry with Dominik Fernkorn before he studied with Carl Kundmann at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna from 1874–1877 . Then he went on a trip to Italy with a travel grant. In 1878 he became a member of the Vienna Künstlerhaus . After his death he was buried in the Vienna Central Cemetery (Group 0, Row 0, No. 577).

Josef Beyer was committed to historicism. In the course of the expansion of the Vienna Ringstrasse zone , he created sculptural figure decorations for several monumental buildings.
