Josef Franz Knoll

Josef Franz Knoll (* 1713 in Passau , Holy Roman Empire , † October 23, 1776 in Lugosch , Austria-Hungary ) was an administrative officer of the Crown and Chamber Domain of Temescher Banat .

As a kk administrative officer, Josef Franz Knoll worked in the Banat from 1742 , where he rose from clerk (1750–1752) to sub-administrator (1752) and finally to district administrator. From 1752 to 1756 he headed the Panschowa district , and between 1756 and 1759 the Tschanad district . From 1764 Knoll was active in the colonization work, where he was responsible for the expansion and re-establishment of numerous localities.

Under the supervision of Josef Franz Knoll, the following villages in the Banat were expanded:

In 1765 Knoll was responsible for founding the model parish Billed with 252 houses. Billed was the first newly founded village of the Theresian colonization . The village was laid out as a model for all subsequent new foundations in the Banat according to the plans of the Vienna Court Chamber . Knoll, as head of the Timisoara district based in Sanktandreas (1759–1768), had the overall supervision of the development of the predium Billed.

From 1771 to 1776 Knoll headed the Lugosch district. In 1768 he was charged with corruption and removed from office.
